This time of year

So have you done your shopping yet?
and what about the tree?
the cake, the mince pies
and the decorations?
- don't leave it all to me!

I haven't bought the wrapping paper,
nor decided what to buy.
I've nothing to wear to the office party,
and I'm getting really stressed!

"Calm down", she said. "It'll be alright".
"I've finished mine you know."
"I'm already done, so I'll help you now",
she said patronisingly.

But what about your Christmas spirit?
O little Miss Prim and Proper?
You're making me feel so inadequate..
"Oh, somebody please stop her!"

"Here you are my dearest friend".
"Take this, 'specially for you".
"Oh lovely, thank you, that's so very kind."
"All I needed was a glass of mulled wine".

Now I see it all so clearly -
what to do and what to buy.
Christmas is back to looking cheery!
