A leaf spiralling to the ground, she reaches out to catch it but
changes her mind at the last minute.
Dawn, like every other day, had crept up without her noticing, and she
sighed inwardly. Another sun of silence and waiting. She watched the
leaf as it fluttered and twirled past the lichen and the centipede that
made her shudder. It fell through the clouds, lost.
Once more she paced around the small room, claustrophobia closing in as
it did every second of her life. What monotony ruled her. Perhaps, she
thought, she should finish it now, throw herself through that window
where the clouds waited. Perhaps. She sighed. Another day. Was she
despairing already?
The roses had wilted in their vase on the table. She tipped them out
the window and tried to imagine where they went. Tried to imagine a
body falling, diving. In her mind she pushed through the sky.
