Transformation

She calls to me from beyond

out at the edge of the reef

I can not join her there now

for time has been a thief



In my dreams the tide is low

and I stand upon the edge

I talk to her and tell her all

as the water laps at the ledge



As daylight breaks the tide comes in

I must retreat to the shore

and there she is just beyond

calling to me once more



Then one day my dream grows dim

I can not see the reef

Is she there waiting for me?

I cry out in my grief...



I fear I have lost her

My memory fading fast

I dive in over the edge

swimming for the past



As I touch the crystal surface

I become what I long to be

my body shimmers and transforms

like her I am a dolphin of the sea



Out in the distance I see her

Waiting beyond the reef

I finally join the one I love

and leave behind my grief
