WHISPERING JESUS

Whispering Jesus
From a half-heard whisper
Trembling at the gates of sound
To a deafening roar of anger
Shaking sinners all around
Myth or man he came so softly
A most apologetic birth
A pauper in the making
A wealthy king lay still
Why so humble, why so soft?
Where's the fanfare entrance?
Where's the mighty army
To crush Satan's baying hounds?
Man seeks another conflict
To purge his endless craving
Loud he claims his victory
Deaf by choice, he blindly staggers on
Come! The voice of Jesus whispers¦
I have already overcome!
