Who is she?

She watches while beneath white sheets
So many of her children sleep
Until the breaking of new day
When sun's breath melts the snow away
You know her name, you know it well
But who is she, can you tell?
With new beginnings comes new life
Green shoots emerge to find the light
Small creatures hiding neath the ground
She calls to them, with not a sound
You know her name, you know it well
But who is she, can you tell?
The pace of life, she quickens now
Men toil with sweat upon their brow
Birds fly to and from the nest
And flowers bloom at her behest
You know her name, you know it well
But who is she, can you tell?
For every hour of day and night
She slumbers not, nor looses sight
Of every task she must complete
While mortals worship at her feet
You know her name, you know it well
But who is she, can you tell?
Soon days grow short and nights grow cold
But still she toils with young and old
She loves them all, each leaf and twig
Each creature, whether small or big
You know her name, you know it well
But who is she, can you tell?
As leaves change colour, fade and die
And sun hangs lower in the sky
And, once more, earth is kissed by snow
There's just one thing you'd like to know
But you know her name, you know it well
It's Mother Nature, shh, don't tell
