Zoom
Remember when we used to zoom?
High-speed rush was all the rage,
But now no one has the room.
Arterials clogged to choking point
And motorway racetracks turn to parking lots.
No one had the time to stop and chat.
Now we sit and smoulder in silent anger.
The hunger for speed consumed us all.
Quite why, we can't remember now.
Yet still in engineered perfection
We slumber, waiting for the jam to clear.
The monster machine that hides such awesome power
Is reduced to an expensive armchair now.
Even if we could get from 0 to 60 in a flash
The matrix cities and well planned towns
Are all choked up so we cannot not dash.
