THE CARPET

I was once everyone's darling in the hall,
I lay stretched as a seat on the floor for all,
I was appreciated for my beauty by all,
I was the one who brightened the hall.
Then came a time I started growing old,
I was trampled and ragged by all,
Still I never got angry at all,
But I remained everyone's darling in the big hall.
Then came a time I was discussed upon,
Every body pitied me but nothing more,
And suddenly one day I was rolled and sent out of the hall,
It was then I realized I was nothing but the carpet in the big
hall.
