The Batman Cape

Through the course of my life, I’ve done my share of Praying,
It has the power to comfort an aching soul
I was never really sure, that He heard what I was saying,
All those Prayers must be difficult to control

I was restless last night and I couldn’t sleep,
There was things weighing heavy on my mind
If God was our protector, and we were His sheep,
Then why is sorrow so damn easy to find

I’ve always been told He is the merciful One,
And there is nothing that He could not do
From His love for us, He sacrificed His only Son,
Because of Him, there is life for me and you

It was then I decided to send God a Prayer,
To let Him know that I was starting to doubt
How could He allow life, to be so cruel and unfair,
And so He would hear me, I began to to shout

When I was done shouting all that I had to say.
A pleasent aroma, suddenly filled the room
Then a soothing warmth, turned night into day,
And a pressence appeared with a mighty boom

It took a couple of minutes, before I was able to see,
A most familliar, and most welcome shape
As a child, just to have one, meant the world to me,
I was looking at the Batmans Cape

I stood there bewildered, not believing my eyes,
When a voice said what I was seeing was true
“My likeness is bigger than the Earth and the skies”,
“So I appear as what is comfortable to you”

“Moses found authority in a bush that was aflame”,
“For others, they find purity in white”
“It seems that no two people, see Me quite the same”,
“I say rejoice in what it is that feels right”

Well, I felt a sudden urge, to explain to Him why,
The Batman Cape was so important to me
But then He said,” My son, don’t you even try”,
“It pleases Me that you believe enough to see”

Then He said, “And now, as for why I am here”,
“It’s not to defend anything that I have done”
“Your doubts are reasonable, intentions are clear”,
“I am here from your concern for everyone”

“I could have made the world, a most perfect place”,
“That, would have been the easiest thing to do”
“And I could have put a smile upon everyones face “,
“I could have made a sky, that was always blue”

“But if I had then tell Me, just what would a life be”,
“Without the promise of a better tomorrow?”
“One, cannot know beauty, if that is all you see”
“Or know happiness if there was no sorrow”

“Acomplishments in life, are always taken to heart”,
“Yet pride means nothing without a choice”
“Perspectives and ideas, that which sets you apart”,
“Cannot exist, if there is but one voice”

“As for disease and death, you ask, why is it so?”,
“It is in the miracle of life the answer lies”
“The body is but a vessel, so the miracle can grow”
“Life is eternal, it’s just the vessel that dies”

“And every single thing, whether it’s good or it’s bad”,
“Is life,it’s part of the miracle that I give”
“But it passes by so quickly, and what makes Me sad,”
“From fear of dying, you forget how to live”

And then just like that, The Batman Cape was gone!
I just stood there in silence for awhile
And filled with the promise, of the approaching dawn,
I was changed, and that made me smile!
