Going Home

A familiar place that he once knew,
Yet touched by the hands of time
He remembers the things he used to do,
So innocent, and so sublime
He walks down Main Street, intentionally slow,
My how things have changed
The buildings are the same, he knows where to go,
Yet everything seems rearranged
He goes to the Park where he used to play,
And forgets about life for awhile
Like a tumbleweed, his mind is carried away,
Subconsciously, he begins to smile
Ghosts of children, gather at the swing,
Their laughter ringing in his ears
He hears the songs he used to sing,
Forgotten through out the years
He feels the truth of being a child,
Untouched by societies way
Exonerated feelings of running wild,
All, in the name of play
But reality returns to invade him,
Washing away his dreams
Desperately trying to remain with them,
His world bursts apart at the seams
And suddenly, the truth is finally his,
He knows it's just part of the plan
That Home, is where the heart is,
And the boy, has become a man
