Lies

They told me that Santa was for real,
With the truth a part of me died
To them, it wasn’t such a big deal,
But the truth had said they lied
The Easter Bunny and tooth ferry was next in line,
And my world was falling apart
A cold hard fact for a young boy of nine,
It broke my fragile heart
In that year of nine, I grew up all too fast,
And the Sandman was no more
The Boogeyman who haunted me in the past,
Wasn’t behind my closet door
And the lies kept multiplying, the older I got,
Cause adults, well they lie too
There was Hitler’s lies in which a war was fought,
And Watergate just to name a few
But the ultimate lie, an unnecessary one,
Ironically, it made me jump for joy
In all my life, I’ve never had such fun,
When I discovered that Lassie was a boy!
