Damn the luck for I shot him,
and he managed to shoot me as well
I got him first, but he did not die
Now, neither of us can move,
for both of us are mortally wounded
We will die soon, as a War goes on around us
We just stare at each other,
he speaks but I can not understand him
I only know that he is my enemy,
and I am sworn to kill him
I lean against a tree, bleeding
He lies propped up against a rock,
and our lives are draining away
Our private battle within a greater battle,
ends in a draw
We both lose, and that's all I can think about
Not home, my life, my kids, my wife,
only that I have failed in my task
He talks loudly now, cursing me I think
He reaches into his breast pocket,
I shudder for he may have a gun
He pulls out a picture and shows me,
a woman and a small child
He cries now, but I feel no remorse,
for he is my enemy and I am sworn to kill him
So here we sit, waiting to die,
and I am angry, for I do not want to die first
