Last Call at the Check Out

It happened unexpectedly today…..
there was no flash, or boom, or shock wave, no drum roll
though there must have been, some informative sign
as many gathered curiously, in silence, by the loading dock
unable to help the one selected, most likely to succeed
from successfully checking out, before signing the funeral plan application form
sadly in the end, only a bloodless irony survived and was registered
within the minds of all the staff there, in the Outward Goods Department
as in the end, there were no angels, nor even a genuine sense of caring...
rather, a sheer inconvenience was considered - an end in itself
During the lunch break, a life had passed prematurely, unaided and unseen
though disappointingly, the part time guy who sweeps the bathroom, declared;
“Oh God I hate it, when I have to clean up after Dispatch!”
It happens unexpectedly - Every day!
C’est la vie!
