A Social Implication of Social Networks

The haunting music of a flute, filled the air and seemingly moved forever forward, as if marching in an orderly, constant fashion, towards some obscure and yet to be determined future, beyond us, beyond today and beyond everything that the last generation considered to be futuristic.
All those people who were considered to be un cool, or who merely preferred to retain personal privacy in their lives, or those who placed less importance on being online, on f book, or on some other commercially structured system, formed to bleed and control the masses and those who were not on a mission, to become seen by strangers, as being a genuine and interesting individual, thus worthy of friendship. All those people and I, heard and were unmoved by the music of the flute.
Standing completely still, as if frozen statues watching a parade, we saw a strange, yet almost familiar pied piper, wearing checked tights and incredibly pointy shoes, passing us by. The eerie music of his flute seemingly leading another mass of unknown followers, subconsciously and hypnotically urging them to keep moving forever forward, closer with each socially engineered step, to the very edge of what had been, their whole world.
We continued to stand in silence, long after the music and faceless mass had faded away into obscurity. Then, someone in the group of remaining onlookers suggested that there may be some real benefits to be found in establishing, or collectively joining and actively sharing, a brand new idea, with our generation!
Everyone, who had previously been completely irrelevant, could become a member of this fantastic, new social network. Rules and terms of usage could be established and by agreement, with an absence of trolls, the idea could work, providing it was populated and maintained by members with a vastly more diverse range of musical interests. In the interim however, to ensure the groups long term survival, it should be compulsory that, all members followed only, non marching musicians who dressed and played more stylishly!
Ho-hum… I thought shaking my head; such are the social implications of change!
