To Silence

Bustling city
Down beneath
The sea of rats and filth
A familiar place
In an unfamiliar space
Creatures unknown breathe
In a dark chamber
A scholar works
Everywhere
Distractions abound
An array of machines
And contraptions
An array of strange,
Interesting sounds
Giraffes burn in the savannah
With ladders stuck to their sides
People climb and climb to escape
The murderous and vicious hives
Waves crash
To the sound of thunder
Sculptures and works abound
An unknown artist surveys them
A creation of his own mind bound
Wandering
In a sky of endless blue
The deep awaits my return
While,still,
The distance between us grew
An omnipotent eye
Pierces a needle
It bleeds the cries of space
Thrown down across the heavens
The sky within the eye
A beautiful and lush face
The heat of a thousand suns
Beat down
On a flat man
His outline carefully drawn
The key to a thousand-lock door
Opens
To silence
Life's sound
