Returning, brown.
The couple make their entrance to the bar,
they're feeling cold but still their limbs are bared.
They haven't re-acclimatised so far
but their holiday abroad, this must be aired.
They're wearing white to emphasise the tan,
and bearing photos just to illustrate
the tales of sand and sea and midnight fun
although their flight was fourteen hours late.
They still can't quite pronounce the island's name
they gave up trying after their first day.
These funny foreign words all sound the same,
the locals all spoke English anyway.
Their audience is next urged on to quaff
a sample from a heady bottled brew.
They sit and laugh as someone starts to cough
insisting that it's better after two.
The final proof that they've just been abroad
though they're 'dying for a proper cup of tea',
they buy a round they're eager to afford
and try to pay with foreign currency.
