"O why hello Mr Magpie
Why is it I have heard,
That you bring us misfortune but
can also be such a lucky little bird?"
"Because child." said Mr Magpie
"One is for the worst
Unlike two which is for the best,
Three is for the love
While four is for an unexpected guest."
"O why o why Mr magpie,
Is it you spot gems, diamonds and rings
And other people's things,
As well as predict what we shall do
Or whats already been done,
But also...when we are to have sun?"
"Ha ha" Softly laughed Mr Magpie."well young lad,
Five finds the money
Six is for the sin,
Seven is for the heaven
But eight is simply when bad weather shall keep you in,
Also, with us mischievous magpies a few stolen shinys around the nest makes us grin."
"Why o why Mr Magpie,
Is it your always there
Out of the corner of my eye?"
Mr Magpie gave the boy a stern look
"I will tell you why young Master Brook,
Because when there are nine death shall surly be
And lucky for you ten is unlikely,
If this large number shall ever come
Well sir, there is a reason why they call it a murder of magpies, so I merely suggest pray and run."
"Why o why Mr Magpie,
Do people love you perky birds
While others want you to die?"
"The chance of eleven is even less
But that is not why, it is because twelve is both the worst and the best,
You see, for this rare number I'd beware
the magpie guide
Because it is as black and white as our black and white side,
Twelve is both six times the luck as two young Tim
But also double six's sin."
"And on that note I shall fly."
Said Mr Magpie
As young Tim Brooks waved goodbye.
