The Selkie Prince

Behold the mysterious
Selkie
A child forever torn between
Land and sea
Whilst a seal
The creature longs for land
But as a human
Is trapped, stranded on the sand
The first even Selkie
Was a princling born by the sea
Who despite his riches
Longed to be free
So he seeked out a mage
Who said he must set sail when the seas raged
Where he will find upon the foamy sea afloat
A fine, silky seal coat
So the princling came back
From the stormy sea
Waving that said seal coat
Demanding the freedom that was promised thee
The wizard warned the prince
That the price would be great
But the prince merely stated
Well, then so be thy fate
So the wizard let out a sigh
And said he must dorn
The coat when the sun rises
And the gulls begin to fly
But the old mage did not lie
When he said the price would be high
So the princling did as he was told
And felt the magic unfold
As he became the first ever selkie
Free forever he may be
But forever torn between
Land and sea
