My First Love

I learnt to tie my laces
off David when I was four
and he was five.
Patient and clever -
how he smiled -
that sunny child.
I'd never known a boy
as handsome
in all my life (till then).
He could tie a bow - that boy
was fine and I
never forgot him,
he taught me how to tie my shoes.
They were smart and brown
like chocolate - and David.
Wouldn't it be funny
if he remembered me? I doubt
he does, but David, for the record,
I remember sunshine every time
I tie a bow.
Thank you.

Wouldn't it be great if David was on ABCtales with a pseudonym?! I really hope he remembers you with sunshine too.

Nice to have happy memories
Nice to have happy memories aired here! You always write with a good flow and economy of words, Bee – a bit like Tina, but your stiles and content are obviously very individual.
This brought back memories of a little neighbour when I was very young – I think there was a play marriage ceremony which ended in tears and crossness. For a long time we had a photo of him - we had moved - he had lovely smile too, minus his front teeth!
