Unconditional

All these fears creep in to spoil resolve -
irrational - unfounded - dwelt upon
and hidden, show themselves
unwanted and unbidden in deep darkness.
Nighttime terrors blind us to reason,
but only kindness matters; mends our faith
when shattered. And I have found this
in abundance in unexpected places;
in imagined faces; close, and distant friends
with whom I've yet to be acquainted, family
and some I've only met the once. Difference
and distances no longer matter much
where there is love.
And love is unconditional -
while we are free to give, and take it
where we find it.

Hi Bee
Hi Bee
What a beautiful poem - with all the love that you receive and give very carefully appreciated. And what a lovely picture of you with one of your grandchildren? I've had all four of mine these last few days, and although I am exhausted, (and I have another dose to come at the end of next week) I do find them such lovely kids, and a real treat to get to know.
We went to a wildlife park yesterday, and while two of them raced up a path to an overlook area, I sat on a bench to catch my breath. There were some other young children standing just in front of me. My grandkids waved, and these kids thought it was them being contacted, but as the main interest in the pond we were all watching were the otters, busily eating their ration of trout, someone asked whether they were trying to distract the otters from their food. "Oh, no," they said, "We were just waving to some human beings up there." I coulldn't help giggling.
