Promises

We lie at the end of our tether-
side by side, motorways;
giving way to passing bodies.
That was the way to live,
never hold on.
Faith is lost in the arms of love-
and promises are only hot air
dispersing as they exit lips.
But you don't listen to my words,
and the space between us is big
enough to mimic distance.
Cat eyes of a future, waver like hope.
Never understanding how you walked away.

A powerful piece Beeme, I

A powerful piece Beeme, I like the ambiguity bubble that's burst at the end to reveal pain and sadness.
