Lament of the buccaneer

Now you’re sailing along on your driftwood empire
Since I’ve hit land I have only looked back
I miss the turn of the tides of your mind
The echoes of sails as they billow and slack
Left on this island to drown out the noise
Left on this rock with a stick in the sand
You go your own way and leave me to my way
Leave me to my mind, leave me to land
Your unspoken words they get caught in my ear
Screaming so loud that the world disappears
Your thoughts and your silence, are deafening here
No matter where I run, you’re loud and you’re clear
I want to hear the world in its motion
The dirt turn a side to the blue Summer sky
Droplets race puddles to meet at the ocean
But I couldn’t hear them if I tried
I want to hear my own voice of reason
I want to dance to a different song
I want to laugh at the jokes they are telling
I want the right to be louder than wrong
But your unspoken words they get caught in my ear
Screaming so loud that the world disappears
Your thoughts and your silence, are deafening here
No matter where I run, you’re loud and you’re clear
I can’t make your world disappear
I run but you’re loud and you’re clear
