Clocks on a Wall
Ticking,
To count up,
To count down?
Waiting for questions,
That only time could tell.
Will I fit in your box?
Will you fit in mine?
Our expectations are vile,
Kept us from the truth.
What you wanted, I could never be.
What I wanted, you could never see.
Until the clocks began ticking apart,
Not in unison,
Not aligned.
To drive the sanest of men mad,
To drive the maddest of men sane.
Carry me,
For I have fallen,
Where angels cannot reach me.
Carry me,
For I am too weak,
To climb this tampered wall alone.
But I must.
We are helpless,
Until we are our help.
A wish for change,
Is far fetched from an action,
But leads us to our destination.
If only we could follow it,
Grasp it.
The wall had now crumbled,
Into bitter remains,
Left gleaming in the moonlight.
Time had now stopped,
But it had never really existed.

Some lovely wordplay here and
Some lovely wordplay here and reversals. The central theme of the clock holds together well. Enjoyed this!

Effective poem, felt quite
Effective poem, felt quite controlled and clinical form as per title but within it bursts of stark word choice, vile, bitter, helpless, played off well. Really liked 'Until the clocks began ticking apart, Not in unison, Not aligned', good work
