DO YOU REMEMBER (updated)

Do you remember that time….
The moment when we danced in the darkness?
It seems so far, so long ago.
Like days, weeks, years in our past.
A place we thought together, We’d never be.
A place where hearts are hidden,
Emotions sheltered and unknown,
And the future somewhere far ahead in that distant, “No Need to Worry”, place.
Our lives burning in the height of discovery and flight, Illusions and fantasies,
Ever seeking,
Always searching,
Resting among the old live oaks,
Entrenched in a muddled landscape of sugar sand and regrets.
Within this southern forest,
With its ghostly grey moss twisting,
Nestled against the sea,
Where sounds of His world drifted through the salt, sand and scents in the summer breeze,
To settle on that shore which bordered Gods golden wave swept coast.
With smells of sulfur, marsh and cool spring rains in the afternoon heat,
Whose scent filled arid and blessed ancestral souls,
In shrouds of history long forgotten and lost to time,
Demanded,
Our faith and Southern ways held fast, in truth, respect and moments past.
When we as children in the south,
Seized the grace and nurtured traditions,
That this our blessed, God given place,
Was not in rest our destined point.
Not solemn, silent, naked or alone,
A trust which born buried within our past,
As lonely as it was sensed,
Settled,
Built our nurtured lives in cradled and blessed ancestry,
Each southern soul redeemed.
Do you remember?
