Excpecting Part I

Who would have thought a single symbol could change a person's life? But sitting there staring down at that plus sign, I knew my life had changed forever. In no way was I, Jane Larkson, ready to be a mother at 16 years of age. I was in such shock I couldn't ever cry! How was I to tell my parents? In their eyes I was a perfect daughter, and now? I would lose all of their respect.
The father, Kellen Jones. WE dated for only 4 short months, then out of the blue he breaks it off and hasn't spoke to me since. He was my first. We only had done it a couple of times. I wasn't even sure I wanted to, but then one night. How could I let this happen?!
*Buzz Buzz*
Beth: Hey! What's up?
Me: :( We need to talk.
Beth : I'm on my way!
“Oh my God! Are you sure?” Asked Beth
“Yes I'm sure!”
“Have you told Kellen?”
“No I just found out. You're the only one that knows.”
“When are you going to tell him?”
“I don't know” Beth and I talked about what I should do for what seemed like forever. Then we heard the front door of my house open.
“Honey, I'm home! Is that Beth's car in the drive way?” My mother's voice called from the living room.
Oh shit! What am I going to do now? “You have to tell her,” Beth said interrupting my thoughts.
“I. I can't,” I pleaded.
“You have to,” Beth urged as she pushed me toward my bedroom door. I walked down stairs to facing the floor.
“What's wrong, sweetheart? My mother questioned. I opened my mouth to talk but nothing came out. I began to cry when she came to hug me.
“Mom...”
“Yes?”
“Mom, I'm. I'm.”
“Jane? What is it?”
“Mom, I'm pregnant!” I yelled hysterically. I ran away before she could react. I ran into my room where Beth was waiting with open arms. I balled on her shoulder so hard I didn't hear my mom come into the room. I noticed her when she sat next to me and put her arms around me as well. 'It's okay, honey' is all she could say to me for the next hour, until my father got home. Beth had left and I was all alone in my room listening to my mom tell him the horrifying news.
Silence. That's all I herd. My father, who is never at a loss for words, was silent. Then my mom's sobs broke the silence. Tears started flowing from my own eyes. I buried myself into my bed and didn't move until my alarm sounded in the morning. I didn't eat or talk to anyone that morning. I showered and dressed for school in silence. That word kept finding its way into my life.
When I reached school that morning Beth was waiting for me in our usual parking spots. She opened her mouth to speak, but read my expression and decided other wise. We walked to class in, yet again, silence. I was beginning to feel better. Until I got to first hour. I completely forgot Kellen was in my first hour Bio class. And of coarse it was a lab day. Which means we could get paired together.
Mrs. Turner came around to all the girls with a hat filled with the guys names. I reached into the hat “Please don't be him. Please please please,” I unintentionally whispered.
“What was that Ms. Larkson?” questioned Mrs. Turner.
“Nothing,” I replied as I opened the small piece of paper in my hand. I wanted to cry when I seen 'Kellen' written in a black sharpy marker on the paper. Mrs. Turner took the paper from my hand and read the name aloud. Kellen looked up at me in surprise. After all the pairs were made everyone moved to be seated next to their partner. I did not move.
Kellen sluggishly made his way over to me. He sat next to me and we said nothing as we waited for instructions. We worked in as few words as possible. I kept relaying conversations in my head. Telling him over and over again that I am caring his child inside me!
“Kellen,” I whispered.
“Yes?”
“I. I have to tell you something,” I proclaimed weekly
“Okay?” he questioned with a confused look on his face.
“I don't want you to feel responsible, or feel bad, or freak out, or”
“Jane. You're rambling,” he interrupted.
“Sorry,” I said meekly. “I'm trying to tell you. I'm...”
“Ring Ring,” Sounded the bell.
