Battle Cry

A mind turns inward,
prepares for battle,
killer cells to overcome.
Imagines armies, swords a rattle,
endorphins march and overrun.
Focus all the healing rays
aim them at the enemy,
strike with all the force, amaze
the bodies simple frailty.
Stay calm, be still.
Stay strong and fill
the heart with determination.
Beat the drum,
overcome
the carcinogenic infiltration.

A brave poem, dear Val and I
Permalink Submitted by Silver Spun Sand on
A brave poem, dear Val and I can identify one hundred percent, as you well know. I used to feel exactly the same way and in fact wrote to a poem, as yet never published, at the start of the new millenium using the same kind of battle imagery. Because, purely and simply, that is what it is.
Much love,
Tina x
