foundations laid down
so long ago
by philosopher kings
and warrior poets
of old

Idyllic icons in
ancient robes
bravely dreaming of gods and love
searching for clues
to a universe
harsh yet pure

Forging futures from frozen fields
harvesting grains
hunting what beasts
the lands may wield
many secrets
their graves do yield

Eventually everything ends
they have shown
by they're quests
our dreams have grown
now we see further
in all of us
might they endure
