A new start in Italy

Adam let out a great sigh of relief as he exited the plane and took his first steps into Italy. He gave the sweet older lady one last smile and then they parted ways. Adam left the terminal and stood outside, begining the struggle of finding a taxi. He stood there for what seemed like close to an hour, watching the taxis come and pick up the older people and the women. He watched as a cab slowly pulled in and stopped just a few feet from him. Adam rushed over and quickly hopped in the back. He told the driver his adress and they began to make their way to his new home.
Adam paid the cab driver and gazed up at his new apartment complex. It didn'treally look anything like the pictures he had seen, but oh well, maybe they would be better on the inside. He knew his room was on the top floor so he made sure he had a good grip on all of his luggage and prepared himself for a hike up the stairs. He couldn't help but notice how rough the neighborhood looked as he climbed higher and higher on the stairs leading to his room. It was nothing like he had pictured, in fact this whole relocation was begining to seem like sort of a bad idea. Half of the windows on the building were boarded up and so were half of the buildings that he could see in the surrounding neighborhood. He decided to try and hurry to his room and make a call to his boss back in America.
He swung his door open, and just as fast slammed it and locked it behing him. The whole area kind of gave him the spooks, he felt as if he were going to be jumped or robbed. He tossed his belongings on the ragged, dingy couch and pulled his phone out of his pocket to call his boss. "No service, perfect!" he yelled as he tossed his phone on the couch as well. "I guess I could check out the rest of this dump for now." Adam began to slowly walk around the apartment to see what his living arangements would be like from now on. He was shocked when he walked into his new bedroom. The capet was torn up on one side of the room, and the carpet that was left behind had a large brown stain on it. He then noticed that there was a slight draft in the room and turned around. Behing him was a small window, but much to his surprise, part of the glass was knocked out. "What the hell happened to this place? And why did they tell me I would be in a luxury sweet in the middle of a nice town? I'm in a damn dump." Adam heard his phone ringing and he quickly ran back into the living room to see hwo was calling. Thankfully, he had gained a few bars of service and it was his boss calling to see if he had gotten setteled in yet.
"Well Adam how are you liking Italy? Is it great?"
"No sir it's not, my apartment is in a horable neighborhood, not to mention the apartment itself is a dump. I couldn't see the office either so I take it I won't be walking to work everyday." Adam said angrily.
"I'm sorry to hear that son, I'll do my best to see what happened and see if we can get you to a better neighborhood that's close to the office like you were promised."
"Thank you sir, let me know when you find something out." They both said goodbye and hung up. As much as he wanted to, Adam couldn't be mad at his boss. He was almost like a father figure to him. He had always helped him as much as he could and was actually the reason behind Adam having the great job that he does now, aside from this relocation. Adam sat his phone down and slowly turned to explore the rest of this tiny, horrid apartment.
