A: Think of Breakfast

Think of breakfast
as a setting sail.
The sweeping bays
are bites in toast.
The pepper-mill,
a light-house.
A lost baked bean:
an orange buoy
on an ocean
like a table cloth
with its draped horizons,
its grains of scud.
And for direction,
should you need it,
a licked finger
held up like an answer.
