The radio pretends
To be a caring friend
It offers a voice
That fills the empty air
And I'm confused
Yes I'm dumbstruck
It seems I'm just plain out of luck
And in the end, there's no one even near
And the autumn leaves
And you left
There's a peg where your jacket hung
There's the place where we danced and sang
There's a door key that's become a spare
And still, I can't believe that you're no longer here
I said I was sorry
I didn't mean to come between
The things I thought meant nothing
I just brushed past them like I hadn't seen
I'd be a fool
To say I didn't care
And I am a fool
Such a fool
The autumn leaves
And you left
