Eros Comes Out Fighting
Whenever Thanatos rattles my cage
all great and grizzled ,growling lumbering
unshaven and dark shouting
"death comes,hear me, fear it"
Eros comes out fighting
casts off the languid beauty of a sleeping boy
puts down the butterfly of psyche softly
unfurls alabaster wings
grows iron hearted muscle
sets himself against unsilky dark ,unlocks me
And I roar and leap
wreathe the world in smiles
dance love tangoes with lively boys
eat beauty and smell the best of things
from cinammon to Araby
swell with gratitiude for every breeze
and bless the touch of feathers
Eventually a balance is retrieved
fetched back like the shoes
cast off when I was a nut tree maiden
and again I'm a conscious caryatid
quietly holding things in
up and down
gentle palmed and all is quiet
