Hospital Rules

Veins should always be found immediately
pop up like little children who don't know the rules of hide and seek
And the needle wielders should be like a Batter
who gives up after two strikes
and calls for a ringer from a top team

Food should be fabulous, teetering accross the menu
in a nice pair of heels
half new twist half nursery
as if a perfume ad became edible and strutted its stuff

There should always be something good on TV
interesting but easy to follow
a grin not stitch funny
for the night before or the coming round after

And the smooth suited should always be optimistic
if they've burned out their circuits
trying to be perfect
they should suck humility neatly through a straw
and say they know a man who can
