The Pixie is Leaving
So grown up today
Crisped up in grown up clothes
future office ready
she is leaving one leaf hop at a time
popping nestwards in between hops
leaves quiver as if she is a raindrop
In Ottery St Mary there is still a Pixy Day
where the bell ringers are captured in the parlour
and rescued by the Vicar
My girl has given up her Pictish Woad
She has given up her Dartmoor colt
and greening the grass wherever she treads
This morning she doubted the safety of the world
its so dangerous being a girl
Not if you guard your drinks love
stay with your friends
and feel quite able to say
"no thanks, but do have a good evening"
Besides which we both know she can run and kick like Kanga
and has a fabulous vocabulary should spoiling the milk
with a sharp tongue ever be
required
