Are there storms over the North Pole?
Sweeping over ivory floors
billowing frozen air like water
cracking the stillness in two counts
The Snow Queen has new shoes
Surely the earth turns on her star
for she has borrowed from Cassiopia
arranged the stolid darkness
in bands to make a chair
and strung the fairy lights
of distant suns
to light her arbours pale
She has reached for me
through the warm hide of sleep
left my breath there
filling the vacuum
with the perfume of her silence
She wears eternity in ruby drops
and sister,you should see
her eyes
