Stollen

Stollen
Marzipan, raisin ,a bite of alcohol
buttery , rich as a Hapsburg
guest feet on a dark red rug
a faded Bokhara
worn in front of the inglenook
which smokes a woody brand fragrantly
as if you smoked a pipe
tamped it down with Old Virginia
beyond diamond panes snow flurries
a girlish governess flirts with winter sun
giggling invisible children kick up powder
Tudor,Elizabethan,Victorian
little coats and great coats with dampening hems
Chistmas card glitter skates on the lake
figures of eight drawn in the afternoon sun
or by carriage lamps after dark
You walked in the woods this morning
and now doze in front of your tea
I'll rouse you later to have a bath
before a bang up dinner and talking to me.
