Emily looked up at the huge building infront of her.
She wanted to turn around and run away.
She was scared.
When her mom told her that they were moving to Florida she couldn't
believe it. All her friends and family were in Arizona and now they
were miles away.
She felt tears welling behind her eyes. She and her friends swore to
write but she new that her friends letters and hopes would not help her
in her new high school.
She held her books tighter to her chest, took a deep breath and walked
into the building.
The next day she dreaded going to school the day before was a living
hell.
She had made no friends. It had been like no one was interested in the
new girl.
She had to sit at the back of the class in all the new classes and ate
alone in the cafetaria.
As her mom dropped her off at school she felt the tears again.
She walked in holding her head high and would try her best that day to
be noticed but no one did.
More days went by that grew into months and poor Emma's self esteem had
vanished.
She had made no friends in months and she felt like a total
loser.
She tried joining school activities like cheerleading, home economics
and sports like swimming, she was really busy but no one was interested
in her except a few times when class mates asked for a pen or an
answer.
Emma got depressed and cried her self to sleep everynight. She did not
want her mom to worry so she always fakeda smile and lied about happy
things that happened at school.
Emma was considering that no one liked her and that she was worth
nothing.
She thought that she was unnatractive, wore unfashionable clothes and
did not have any skills at all...
until 1 day...
Emma was crying in the girls bathroom thinking her life was nothing.
The bell rang for home room and she hurried to her locker before she
was late.
When she opened her locker a piece of paper fell out.
Feeling confused as she always kept her locker neat, she bent down and
picked the piece of paper up.
She knew she would be late for class so she put in her pocket and ran
to her home room.
As she sat at her desk thankful that the teacher had not arrived she
took out the piece of paper.
She unfolded it and discovered it was a note.
Emma was shocked as nothing like this ever happened to her in this
school.
As she looked at the deep blue of the ink and the neat hand writing,
she began to read.
And this is what it said...
"Hey Emma!
I have noticed you over a couple of months watching you swim and
cheerlead with all the other girls and I have to admit that you have
alot of skill.
I am in the running team so I see you alot.
I don't understand why you always are alone and eat in the cafetaria
alone!
So I was wondering if I could join you sometime cause I, myslef dont
have many friends so thats why I asked.
Well thanx for reading
From Michael (In your home room)"
Emma was so shocked she couldn't believe it.
As she looked around the class she saw Michael 3 desks away from
her.
She knew him already, she had her eye on him cause he seemed really
cute to her.
He caught her gaze and smiled. Emma blushed and smiled back.
She quickly tore a piece of paper from her not book and began to
write..
"Hey Michael
Thank-you so much for you note and as I also dont have many friends so
I was a bit shocked.
I would really enjoy your company at lunch today.
Thank-you again
From Emma"
She through the note lightly onto his desk, suprised from where her
confidence was coming from!
She watched him unfold the note and read.
After he refolded and put into his pocket he looked at her and smiled a
friendly smile.
She smiled back her best smile (something she hadnt done in
months)
And she knew that from that moment that a new friendship would start
and who knows maybe something even more.
