What do we want for ourselves?
When we think of love?
How do we feel about it?
How do we judge?
What benchmarks actually matter?
What words do we really hold dear?
What makes a relationship strong enough
To last a thousand years?
You might expect a list of clichés
Things you’ve heard before
Experiences you’ve had and forgotten
With people you don’t see anymore
It’s true that some things on the list
You might expect to be there
But we want no less for the people we love
I’d say that’s only fair
So when we see these two together
And we recall the start - the chase, the calling
How we can’t imagine one without the other now
And how there’s still laughter in the mornings
I think that is what we want for ourselves
A love which grows stronger in every way
A celebration with friends and family
And for this pair, this moment... their wedding day.
