Shutters up
Key in the lock
Tabbard on
Tea in the pot
She's got the service wash on
Paper laid out all nice
Radio babbling in the background
She's checked the cash register twice
She's all soverigns and ciggies
Starched blouse... ugly shoes
Every hair sprayed to perfection
Heart of gold... bad tattoos
Face like a boxer
Grimace like a miner
She's done this her whole life
Got 40 years behind her
She knows every tiny tile
On the mosaic by the door
The sign's a familiar face
She loves too much to ignore
She's comfortable with the rhythmic tumble
The cloying heat and whirring
And though sometimes she wishes
For things she daren't speak of...
The machines just keep on turning.
