So this day, it has a meaning
On which we must shed light
For those in constant shadow
Where hope is far from sight
 
For all who face the battle
Of getting through ONE day
And those with inner voices
Trying to lead your heart astray
 
For those kids who don’t know what they are
And don’t fit into life
And think the only answer
Is a rope, a gun, a knife.
 
For those whose tears keep falling
When all around are smiles
When all is good and yet
They want to hide or run for miles
 
For all of those who suffer
This invisible disease
Who fight these inner demons
That destroy us with such ease
 
We say ALWAYS KEEP FIGHTING
You’re by no means on your own
There are people you can talk to
You don’t have to fight alone
 
There’s no weakness in accepting
That you’re really not ok
In fact it takes a strong soul
To seek help in life these days
 
So let’s talk about our Mental Health
Don’t keep it in the dark
It will fester, it will damage
It will leave its lifelong mark
 
We need it in the open
Where it can no longer hide
Where we can fight it hand in hand
As t’ward the light we stride
 
We’ll make it there together
We WILL NOT let it win
But first we have to talk of it
So let us now begin…….

My name is Cassiopeia and I suffer from mental health issues. I have since I was 13 when I was alone with my mother when she suffered a brain haemorrhage and later passed away. I have depression, social anxiety and co-dependant agoraphobia.

Thank you for posting this.  A brave and inspiring piece for Mental Health Day. I think if I had to pick out two lines that particularly resonated for me, it would be the ones saying that there is no weakness in seeking help.  That seems the crux of it all somehow.
