The shimmering sun
on the horizon
yellow primroses
sprouting up

Golden daffodils
holding up their trumpet heads
white snow drops bell shaped
hanging down so delicate

The cat “Jazz” in the glimpse of the sun
laying on his back
waiting waiting
for someone to tickle him

White lily pads
floating on the lakes
long necked swans
gliding along

Green frogs croaking
jumping about
lambs are born
in the early morn

Butterfly wings
are sapping the nectar
sounds of the birds twittering
on the high branches

Children skipping along
to the hum of a song
looking at the fish pond
some are on the swings
mums and dads watching them

The queue at the cafe
is getting longer and longer
with the ice-creams they sell
Strawberry banana chocolate

Vanilla in cones
People passing by
waving to a bride
with a smile

Breathing in the fresh air
now the beauty
of spring time appears
throw out our arms

Be thankful
for all the little
special things
in life

um a bit long - and a bit samey! i think you need to develop your ideas and plop in some really zany ones to cheer up the poem. you almost get there with the description of icecream. "Strawberry banana chocolate and vanilla in a cone People passing by waving to a bride with a smile and breathing in the fresh air" the first bit is good, then you've got to do more work. take out the ings...the with, and the and... its amazing what a little reducing can do... i should know i'm kinda fat!

Re; these.kind of poems now comp;finished Both been very rough, and someone from group got to, think mine brought from N/home he had been down often not me,lately dosed 3 weeks then Dr's tablets. ok now.Said high BP that's because fixed me in within an hour.3 weeks dosed said virus. now over worse. Had go to Dr's.ok now. Mine did not go gave it to me. Hope your well. Did you watch Royal Wedding,fab glued to t.v. Course so much memories for me! and tears etc;past.Diana. julie xx

New Nolan Thankyou for concern, yes both over virus now thanks. Glad you liked poem made from the two in a way entered in comp. System went wrong there end all can say, course didn't come any where. So thought AbcTales may like read and comment. So pleased another one. And about my favourite comforter cat, doesn't come in quites so often. But wins little bit money for me quite a while. Names his in middle or end. Nice hear from you, and your good poems. More please. Panic time over daughter forgot night flight up to 11.30pm made ,mine send text just landed, 3 hours away home thoughno car. Wrong one in law didn't go, other's stayed on, all knew collect and home safe, message wrong two not gone back. Nice hear from you. Have a good week-end. Stormy to-day. I'm more your dog kind of person Julie. In ancient African folklore there is a fireside story in which man was separated from all the animals by a crack in the ground, a large crevasse. But just before it was too late and the crack too wide, the dog jumped over and was with man. Man's best friend. It is so. It is true. Each to his own!

New Nolan Thanks comment. I truly believe in the saying Man's best friend is his dog. I agree with you. But this is true about not my cat, responds by my voice, used come in a lot. Both of us. And a comforter in many ways of things and happenings etc; show love get it back. Colder to-day. Anymore folklore tales please. Turn your money over if a full moon.My nan new them all. New skinner_jennifer Hi! How are you jenny. Thankyou great compliment,computer gone wrong their end.So thought put on AbcTales for comment. I tried two comp; inter mixed it, them from "Seeds of Love." The love of neighbour's cat, is amazing, mine would never have a cat in, now "Jazz" looks for him and sits on his lap too. But "Green Eyes" to me for him is my best kind of poem. Antics of him.Likes look out window, and around and knows when to go. Rubs all around table, makes me laugh. All because within a year, I talk to him, say beautiful, and thank him if get little wins, Honestly. etc; etc; On table yesterday, by vase huge Peonies, mine picked from garden to heavy laying down, on garden treble size. from inlaws garden don't see. Sad news Pinda. Very clever artists, and rapper, Good hear from you. Our computer crashed out to. Enjoy your poems, must try again, but the Royal Wedding watched beautiful, the daughter's 40th. Jazz been in and photos, of it all, ballon went bang scared him, pawed the door to go, so would I. it is only a small garden, back trouble daughter and friend do all the planting,look great, passion flowers if come out, not so many now as they cut them back. Pink blossom only 3 day show, nearly 8ft tall, I am only just over 5ft short. Wisteria near here is lovely. Must read more of your's and all. Added to poem, got carried away.oooh! Hi julie, just come back to say thanks for the newsy comment. It sounds like you have become really attached to the cat, that's nice if you get pleasure from animals. Those Peonies sound wonderful, your garden must look wonderful. I hope you manage to sort problems out, with your computer, I know I had problems with mine, had to take it back to the shop to get it fixed, I have to say I really missed not having the computer. By the way, I too was in shock when I heard about Pinda's death, it was so sad, he had so much to offer, in the way of supportive comments, he always had a good word for my work and lots of others too. I will surely miss him. Anyway you too have a great week and weekend. Take care, Jenny.

new Nolan H1 like the verse of your's great. This was 2 poems one before, votes site gone wrong, most had be done by hand they had said. or disappeared. for comp; went wrong and computer etc; So thought put both on,see if reader's AbcTales liked, going well. The Daffodil bit wanted have the real cat daffodils, to late, and hadn't asked owner then. Thanks. Paper states town somewhere 10 died maybe antifreeze, or a stream contaminated how awful, they are so loveable. Some take to bed and dogs, dress in pyjamas strange aye! Can be a wonderful world. What one makes of it. I see tree's of green and red roses too lovely Peonies this year given plant, bulging on ground had be cut brought in, like 3 dimension petals. julie x

I thought this was lovely, Julie, such lovely phrases and images it was like a breath of spring air and so uplifting. You always try by be inspiring with your writing and spread good cheer and that's wonderful. I'm with you all the way on this one. new Sue dinum Well what! a lovley surprise and comment poem, way back! Glad you liked. Well that cat "Jazz" my poem "Green Eyes". Always there and much more than my poem says, now, which is now in AbcTales mag 23 and once read at "the Wheatsheaf" London t.cook needed more reader's omg. Nervous wreck, but done it. I enjoy your's acceptional, way you write them. If a lot happens, and on my mind not so good. Cat is a comfort loving kind, bit pyschic too. Waits outside, if not been about, Allo! Allo! Allo! like when cries sometimes. Getting old like me now. just celebrated 73 years, my word long long time. Cat doesn't stay so long now, loves to mooch around, look out window, hides behind the curtain in bedroom. Advances on to (his) duvet, as now two divans, asleep flat, on his jumper. Smells the flowers, rubs all against everything. We kind of talk to each other! Owner gave me permission write and do poem on him, and has a copy. Good see your back writing. Have a good day. new Sue Hello! What? is the title of story, cat is it Schubert must read. Pop's dog if played his violin, I was a child, sheep dog, used throw his head back and howl, think it's whe the strings of the bow, drawn across the high notes he played, touch beyond sound of ears for dogs too accept. I hated at first when d to hear violin, or my mum sung songs, like "I'll See You Again" now I feel saying you just have a go. She wasn't profesional but good voice younger. I never had her confidence. Both mine not musical in anyway. He does snooker ugh! and Bowls got runner up cups last week, and snooker trophie statues. Time away, not on! Thanks for listening and reading my crazy poems. julie

So was the dog disapproving of your dad's playing... or was it trying its best to accompany the playing with its fine singing? Very funny, Julie. Violin is such a difficult instrument to master, it can sound screechy and painful when not played well (while practising) and absolutely beautiful when played well, either on its own, in an ensemble/string quartet, and stunning in an orchestra with lots of other strings. The pitching has to be spot on with every player, you only have to get one slightly out, and it can ruin the whole sound. By the way, I love reading your crazy poems and listening to you. Thanks for sharing. sue

Another good poem. I thought it reminded me of the imagist poetry of Hilda Doolittle or Ezra Pound or a very long Haiku because it captures moments in a photographic way; showing rather than telling.

new well-wisher Oooh! you have made my day tired,many thanks get a comment,as word Track gone came back,now 'likes' no likes baffling to me. jumped out of bed 3am try and put last words my last poem,'That Olde Devil Moon' not done any long time,so much hasbeen happening good and bad,and doing 'Singing for pleasure' with great conductor teacher and coach,all of us,making a choir,of so far 150 plus four venues now he has done,happy christmas songs,some harmonies and songs etc. No song sheets brilliant,one lessons same day as The Wheatsheaf London could be a squeeze to travel up in evening, show is for The Martlets Hospice,December 16th two performances,anone paid for great course can be in,and 'Brighton Theatre' group,'Singing for pleasure' and 'The Shine Theatre Company. Consonants and sounds and taught every line finish. only four days later. After London could be tired. Ah! been learning looking up the names you kindly mention,Hakiu yes,poem as more observant now,and can see beauty around,it was about the park near me happenings,certainly broadening the mind,now I can try so much being on AbcTales,help from t.Cook our Editor and all. Takes me a while grasp somethings. I have heard of 'Eliza Doolittle' not Hilda,can you say who she is,and maybe 'Ezra Pound.' please. Well when got back last night,there was 'The Devil Full Moon. Hi, julie. Hilda Doolittle (she often went by only her initials, H.D.) and Ezra Pound were both writers who were part of the Imagist school of poetry. The imagists were very influenced by the japanese Haiku form and also modern artistic and musical movements like impressionism. The imagists wanted to represent the subject of the poem, as in a photograph or painting, by just showing the subject rather than commenting on it. Here's a Hilda Doolittle poem that could be described as imagist: Evening The light passes from ridge to ridge, from flower to flower— the hepaticas, wide-spread under the light grow faint— the petals reach inward, the blue tips bend toward the bluer heart and the flowers are lost. The cornel-buds are still white, but shadows dart from the cornel-roots— black creeps from root to root, each leaf cuts another leaf on the grass, shadow seeks shadow, then both leaf and leaf-shadow are lost.
