RIPPLES OF A PIANIST
By Cavalcader
- 1705 reads
"Barry Green"
the wonderful pianists
nods his head, as the fingers
are bent for timing
ripple over the keys
One hand is playing
pianissimo
the other the melody
then the kettle drums
And shakes a shaker
in a bag like
tinkles of a bell
smiles now and again
Foot tapping begins
as he brings in the
Oboe, clarinet, chello
and violin
To a golden lullaby
slumber
in the church
full of angel's wings
I start to sway
to the beat
at the percussions
all brought in
The audience smile
one number they play
like a sound of
clip-clop horses
But it's alternately
patting their hands
on their thighs
like a flamenco
of mexican timing
The "Six Piece Quartet"
strings, saxophone
double bass
All joined in
I met the pianists
after as some had
told him of AbcTales
I will try a poem
if Barry he agrees
"yes" be very delighted
shook hands
And a kiss
on the cheek
I had never heard
of the wonderful
"Six Quartet" before
but definitely
go again
for more
I even stood up on my feet
for a standing ovation
after one glass
of sweetish wine
I have cd of Aker Bilk
Chris Barber
Louis Armstrong
and "Six Quartet, before long
Oh! my belated pop
such a clever man
played piano,violin accordian
out of six none, had his talent.
