TIED UP AT THE OFFICE (True)
By Cavalcader
- 2019 reads
My job at the office then
was a telephonist see
no time hardly for a
cup of tea
or to spend a penny
I would always say
"Good morning
how can I help you"?
The boss had gone out
I sat in my turnable chair
took the calls
and put them through
So I pressed the switch
and gave it a long ring
as the two lads scuttled
across the room
Stop it!
"they shouted
to hell with you"
They both came down the stairs
about 12.noon
into the reception room
I was eating sandwiches
and reading a book
Without further a do
the lads had tea cloths
in their hands
Oh! No
I was gagged around the face
not a word could I say
Then there was a twist
my hands put behind my back
and tied my wrists
Please! I thought not my ankles too
but bound them taught
what? could I do
The door they opened wide
and put me outside
all the blasted traffic
passing by
Did anyone pull up to see
if I was alright
not on your life
the pavement so narrow
driver's faces full of sorrow
I jumped about like a bunny would
the only thing I could do
was turn around
kick the door with my foot
The boys were there let me in
laughing from ear to ear
both untied me
I sat down on the seat
Oh! your white as a sheet
I'd felt sick inside
and a bloody fool
the boss never found out at all
Good job it wasn't a kidnapping
I wouldn't be here
to tell the tale
what? happened.
