an angels joy - or - mankinds folly

an angel she fell from high up above,
when she burned her wings tersely collecting some love,
from the stars it seems that she flew far too near,
she fell... i saw...she was hurt i did fear,
i collected her up, so gentle in my arms,
and made her feel safe from any further harm,
i nursed her to her former health,
and grew to love her for her inner wealth,
through tortured weeks her wings returned,
flourishing feathers were once was burned,
confidence growing she tried to fly,
her wings were strong as she cut through the sky,
our time was nearing its conclusion i feared,
the pain of her loss in my heart how it seared,
her time of departure had come now atlast,
the second she went she would become part my past,
she turned to me and i saw in her eyes,
for the angel can tell nor see no lies,
a faintly smile behind rushing tears,
emotion not felt by her in all of her years,
love she collected for mortals was bound,
yet it seems when she fell her own love she found,
for me she gave up her heavenly ties,
her home and her travels in the eternal skies,
now we live together on the land she did view,
from high up above on her celestial pue,
for what she gave up i have sadness i find,
but she reminds me daily what makes love so kind,
is not what we give to our loved ones that shows,
but what we give up for them love bestows,
for a great sacrifice is seen as so small,
by the one giving up for the love of us all.
