a fool and his wife - or - they can see anything

she takes the stance,
you feel the glance,
eyes roll and a solitary foot taps,
hands hold hips as if legs will fall off,
you know its a sedimentary storm a brewing,
mind spins and awkwardness builds,
did i forget her birthday,
or am i late for an anniversary meal,
warned about 4 months ago,
you open your mouth to apologise,
for anything you can think of,
even those you cant,
but you always make it worse,
sweat builds on your forehead,
well wrung palms swim with moisture,
leaning from foot to foot,
you appear before her as you did,
so many times infront of you mother,
when late for dinner or caught red handed,
your clothes seem to grow abound,
or are you just shrinking into them,
steps forward or back are just deeper,
into the pit of guilt, you know,
oh boy do you know, you are about to swim,
finally opening your mouth,
you stutter a tentative "h h hi honey",
"oooooooh hi honey is it",
do you run, not a chance,
she has mastery over gravity,
your feet wont move, errrrrr,
you wake lathered in sweat,
a few seconds to realise,
bad dream you tell yourself,
glancing up you notice her,
in the bedroom door, aura'd with light,
holding your cellphone,
she see's you awake,
she takes the stance.......
