In the underbelly, I befriended the maggots. This rotting corpse provided me with a home for the first few months. This kind of moment reminds of that one scene in, “A Bug’s Life”, where that old guy is playing chess with himself. Either that or he had an identical twin.
But when the belly decided to give way, my acquaintances and I crawled out like fallen soldiers, missing limbs and holes in our hearts. I was in a mirror like state, staring at this mess I had become. My mouth was dry still. The wriggling around was something I became used to, almost like developing a habit, or noticing something that you didn’t exactly catch before.
Kind of like this memory I have, where I realized that every time I opened the fridge, it made some sort of clicking sound. I found it rather odd. But every single time I opened the fridge afterwards, I would hear the click. Some things can’t be unlearned. Another example: Riding a bike.
But that’s off topic, again, I’m getting distracted. Life thrives in dark places. We also fulfill a role.
