Burned

A vacant song awaits in embers,
Of a passion corrupted by want,
Denied the need to remember,
Flames still linger and haunt.
For our love was more pure,
Than a river laden in snow,
Seeking a vindictive cure,
You left me silently alone.
Our time together branded,
In our hearts ripped asunder,
When our souls danced in hand,
What drove you to justifiable murder?
Desecrated by a frail hope,
That our passion would burn our hate,
Abandoned by a stilled rope,
Taking our love to a hell that awaits.
If all could be undone,
Sacrifice my existence for redemption,
I would undeniably be the one,
To make us whole again,
Yet burned away we remain,
With pain our only memory.
