Connections.

What connects me to my past?
What draws me back? Some strange
elastic band that binds me to my cast?

I've tried to leave it all behind,
tried a different tack. Moved on,
I thought, but still I find myself confined

by thoughts of Mam and Dad,
the house, the pavement cracks. It seems
my childhood memories are ironclad.
