Like Hell

Like Hell
Like a wolf without
his pack
Like a child who’s lost
Like a bee without a flower
Like a stranded sailor
Like a single cloud
Like a singer without a song
Chorus
And they told me
heaven is forever
then my angel fell
They tell me I’m
still living
but my new address is
hell
Like the curse of the
mummy
Like the ace up the sleeve
Like the knife in the back
Like a lie inside the
truth
Like a face behind a mask
Like a thief in the
night
Chorus
And they told me
heaven is forever forever
then my angel fell
They tell me I’m
still living
but my new address is
hell
Like a clock
that’s stopped
Like a fly in a web
Like the hopeless
drinker
Like a dried up oasis
Like a spanner in the
works
Like a man condemned
to death
Chorus
And they told
me heaven is forever
then my angel fell
They tell me I’m
still living
but my new address is
hell

Not very cheerful
Not very cheerful, “Like a spanner in the works” is a good one, “Like a lie inside the truth” a very dangerous thing, deadly, as a half-truth, and “Like a clock that’s stopped” ominous. The chorus says it all.
“Hell” is a nice swear word don't you think? Really forceful but without blasphemy nor obscene, yet extremely powerful.
Your lyrics do sound a lot like Leonard Cohen this could easily be a song.
He is a legend and a mystery, has a very large following although personally I've never liked him that much, apart now for the first album. To be honest I experience dark pessimism, cynical mockery and sarcastic scoff, and all supposed to be very clever.
I only saw now how long ago you posted. Your work is very good.
All the best! Keep well! Tom
