An ode to originality
Why do people have to rhyme?
When making poems take flight
Don't they see it just wastes time
it just passes away the night?!
Instead of seeing what isn't seen
Or making beauty in stanzas
You may start off extremely keen
But you make rubble from your canvas
Like a child at simple play
Or a pig wallowing in mud
Can you see what I'm trying to say
You're simply chewing the cud
Regurgitating past pretences
And making others swallow&;#8230;
You're catchy shallow sentences
That seems so very hollow
While you sit there thinking
Of what rhymes with stupid
Think of a slow river tinkling
Not of words like cupid!
Swapping beauty for a catchy line
Rhymes are getting old!
So, in memory build a shrine
Cos' Youve just killed poems cold!
