Heritage Road.
The Heritage road is so full of romance.
Thoughts of the past, whether Poland or France,
Ireland or Persia, or Scotland so brave.
Dim memories of glamour, traditions to save,
Old photos come out, when stories are told
Of Great Grandad, so fearless, fierce and so bold.
So you'll fight for the cause, when injustice is seen
In far away lands, where you've never been.
Blind ignorance of facts is no bar to your zeal.
When rabble rouser tells stories, of atrocities unreal.
You'd take up your arms, and fight if you could.
He'll dissuade you from this, and sling some more mud
Your presence not needed, "Just give us support,
Spread stories we feed you, make folks overwrought"
With passions now kindled, you're ready to dash,
Fall into the trap, and offer them cash.
Thats what they are wanting, to pursue their false cause,
And make you supporters, of the terrors of wars.
Your loyalty so real, to the cause you will pledge,
And help others in 'Homeland', to drive in the wedge
Of divisive propaganda, which never the fact,
Leads then to the start of aggressive act.
Ambush, so sneaky, not really so brave,
Takes innocent people to an early grave.
Do you know of the sorrow, and tears that are shed
When knock on the door says, someone's son is now dead?
Or blinded for life, from cowardly grenade
The purchase of which, your money made.
Shattered body, so bloody, nerves blasted numb,
Lost now and forever, to a booby trap bomb.
Let's look now to heritage with a different view
Be proud of what was, but let there ensue
For now and forever, that history can say,
I had no hand in causing affray.
I will not support from blind passion alone,
I'll think for myself, and not like a clone.
Go by sea or by air, where you so proudly proclaim
Is from where in the past, your ancestors came.
Enjoy the experience, walk every street
Then leave as you go, only memories sweet.
