Jealousy
Brian Kelly
Then my hollow soule, it did cry with despare,
When seeing one so beautious, so wondrous faire,
Stepping out, hand on arm of such a feeble man.
A rogue, a pluck-ed peacock, a poorly rated sham.
What powers possesseth he, this cowardly knave,
Who wears fluff for whisker, and doth only monthly shave.
That lady, object of my desire, sweet innocence profound,
shoude treat that man as squirming worm upon the ground
It shoude be I, an upright man of honest forthright view,
On whom she shoude her warm endearing charms endue.
Nay, not one I know, for her attentions more worthy be,
Than I, this wretched aching soule, her constant devotee.
To my God, or Satan e'en, I send this, my plea.
Love's forlorn message, can'st thou convey this to she.
To her, e'r from this time I plight my sincere troth,
And send true love winging, my eternal, never dying oath.
Zounds tooth, my hate to him, misbegotten man, I yerk,
To gain her love, from his best efforts I woud'st not shirk.
Through many sleepless nights, for her, so much I yearn
to touch that wondrous textured flesh, soft as new sprung fern.
Much time now has pass-ed by, five and twenty years have gone
The one I loved, albiet from afar, we find to be a despicable one..
I now rejoice, I am a happy man, from my contented batchelor state
I see that retched downcast, married man, but I, my own life can dictate.
Woude I my dogcart ride, or bridge, or any chosen pastime play,
It matters not, I have no other, in servile aquiescence to obey.
That man, the one whom I did envy, and despised with acrimony,
Did for me a goodly turn. My many grateful thanks for this irony
